Buffalo Bore Ammunition 45 Auto Rim (Not ACP) 200 Grain Jacketed Hollow Point Box of 20
Buffalo Bore loads their ammunition up to maximum SAAMI specifications, which delivers devastating performance on a wide range of game. Please note that this ammunition is safe to use in older prewar revolvers in proper working condition. This ammunition is new production, non-corrosive, in boxer primed, reloadable brass cases.
Owner of Buffalo Bore Tim Sundles on Heavy 45 Auto Rim Ammunition:
You’ve been asking for a couple heavy 45 AUTO RIM standard pressure loads, so by popular demand, here they are. Both of these loads utilize high quality Starline brass. We’ve also incorporated flash suppressed powder so you can shoot in the dark without blinding yourself and this is important because over 95% of all civilian shootings in the USA occur in low light when the criminal element is at work. Both of these loads are the ballistic equivalent of +P 45 ACP loads, yet they operate at standard 45 ACP pressures. These loads are safe to use in ANY 45 ACP revolver that is in normal operating condition, including ANY model 1917 Colt or S&W revolver.
Check out the below velocities fired from personal real world revolvers, NOT test barrels. You’ll notice that the new S&W 4 inch MT Gun gives velocities almost as fast as the older S&W revolvers with 5.5 inch and 6.5 inch barrels. This is not a typo. It simply shows that the new S&W revolvers are made to much tighter tolerances than the older S&W revolvers and therefore give higher velocities per inch of barrel.
Item # 31B – 200gr. Jacketed Hollow Point bullet
- S&W Mountain Gun, 4 inch bbl = 1033 FPS
- S&W Model 325 (scandium) 2.5 inch bbl = 950 FPS
- S&W Model 1917 (1937 production) 5.5 inch bbl = 1046 FPS
- S&W 1955 Target (25-2) 6.5 inch bbl = 1063 FPS

Buffalo Bore Ammunition 45 Auto Rim (Not ACP) 225 Grain Hard Cast Lead Wadcutter Box of 20
Buffalo Bore loads their ammunition up to maximum SAAMI specifications, which delivers devastating performance on a wide range of game.
This 225gr. full profile wad cutter, 45 auto rim, is the most deadly standard pressure load ever devised for the 45 auto rim cartridge. It utilizes the same bullet as our 45 colt ANTI-PERSONNEL ammunition (Item 3I) and because of popular request to have that bullet loaded into 45 auto rim ammo, here it is.
This bullet will penetrate around 28 inches and makes a permanent crush cavity because of its wad cutter profile. This load is the power/pressure level equivalent of 45 acp+P ammo and is safe to use in all modern 45 acp revolvers, including any/all (even pre war) 1917 model revolvers in normal operating condition.
Flash suppressed powders are used in this ammo so the shooter will not be blinded by his own gunfire and gives a tactical advantage.
The 225gr. wad cutter bullet is hard cast (not lead) and is properly lubed and will not substantially lead foul your barrel even after extensive shooting sessions, nor will the bullet fragment, smear or mushroom on impact with flesh and bone, thus insuring very straight and deep penetration with a consistent crush cavity throughout its path.

Item # 31A was designed for deep penetration with no bullet expansion. It will shoot through stick frame and dry wall construction walls and through both doors on a 2003 Dodge Ram or through a black bears, etc. It was designed for, among other things, outdoor use including black bear protection. Expect around 27 inches of penetration.

Buffalo Bore Ammunition 45 Colt (Long Colt) +P 225 Grain Barnes XPB Hollow Point Lead-Free Box of 20
IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THE HEADSTAMP ON THIS BRASS: Due to limited supplies of brass, Buffalo Bore has begun loading +P and +P+ ammunition in brass that may not be indicated as such on the headstamp. Example: 9mm Luger +P+ ammunition may be designated as 9mm Luger +P or simply 9mm Luger on the headstamp.
Buffalo Bore loads their ammunition up to maximum SAAMI specifications, which delivers devastating performance on a wide range of game. These Heavy .45 Colt +P loads are safe in all LARGE FRAME Ruger revolvers.(includes Blackhawk, Super Blackhawk, all pre-2005 Vaquero, Bisley, Redhawk) These Heavy .45 Colt +P loads are NOT intended for the New Model Vaquero (small frame). These loads are also safe in all modern Model 1892 leverguns as well as all Winchester & Marlin 1894’s Please note that this ammunition is not intended for older guns. It is made for modern firearms only, as some of the ammunition could damage older and weaker firearms. This ammunition is new production, non-corrosive, in boxer primed, reloadable brass cases.
Owner of Buffalo Bore Tim Sundles on 45 Colt +P Ammunition:
FOR USE ONLY IN GUNS CONSTRUCTED TO WITHSTAND +P 45 COLT AMMUNITION
As usual we test fire our published velocities from real world over-the-counter firearms, so the customer will have an idea what this ammunition is doing in the real world, where it matters and not in a laboratory. We feel that publishing velocities fired from very long laboratory test barrels, gives false high velocity readings and is misleading to the customer. See our velocities below:
- 1533 fps – Freedom Arms Mod. 97 5 1/4 inch barrel
- 1505 fps – Ruger pre 2006 large frame Vaquero 5 1/2 inch barrel
- 1855 fps – Marlin Mod. 1894 Cowboy 20 inch barrel
This, long-for-weight, Barnes X style bullet will penetrate deeply for such a light weight bullet and therefore this load is suitable for big game from whitetail deer through elk.
Barnes placed the crimp groove in a location that affords a short cartridge OAL; therefore the loaded cartridge will fit into the short cylinder of the FA mod. 97. The OAL for this cartridge is 1.572 inch. Which means you can chamber it in revolvers that are too weak to fire +P loads. So, use this ammo ONLY in ALL LARGE FRAME RUGERS, (i.e. Black Hawks, all Red Hawk iterations chambered in 454 Casull and 45 Colt, and pre 2006 Vaqueros) Colt Anaconda, all FA revolvers chambered in 454 Casull and 45 Colt and Dan Wesson revolvers, Winchester and Marlin mod. 1894, all falling block actions made of modern steel, TC Encore and the Handi Rifle.

Buffalo Bore loads their ammunition up to maximum SAAMI specifications, which delivers devastating performance on a wide range of game. Please note that this ammunition is not intended for older guns. It is made for modern post war firearms only, as some of the ammunition could damage older and weaker firearms. This ammunition is new production, non-corrosive, in boxer primed, reloadable brass cases.
Owner of Buffalo Bore Tim Sundles on Heavy 45 Colt Ammunition:
We knew that we could develop a couple standard pressure 45 colt loads that would feature a 255gr. Gas checked soft cast bullet at around 1,000 fps or a 200gr. Jacketed Hollow Point at around 1,100fps. We wanted loads that were substantially more powerful than today’s weenie loads, but that could be fired in ANY 45 colt firearm.
Both of these 45 colt loads are designed to be a heavy loading, yet be within standard (SAAMI) pressure. As such, both of these 45 colt loads are safe and recommended to be used IN ANY post-war 45 colt that is in normal working condition.
These loads are indeed heavy 45 colt loadings. You can fire them in any post-war firearm that is in normal working condition chambered for 45 colt without reservation. These loads will turn your Colt SAA or clone into a powerful carry gun.
See the below velocities.

Buffalo Bore Ammunition 45 Colt (Long Colt) 225 Grain Hard Cast Lead Wadcutter Anti-Personnel Box of 20
Buffalo Bore Anti-Personnel ammunition is loaded with the highest quality components to produce great accuracy and performance. This load was designed for use in any firearm chambered in 45 Colt. This ammunition is new production, non-corrosive, in boxer primed, reloadable brass cases.
Owner of Buffalo Bore Tim Sundles on Anti-Personnel 45 Colt Ammunition:
This load is designed to cause disabling terminal effect, combined with the penetration required to cause fast incapacitation of targets from any angle. The big flat wad cutter nose crushes living tissue as it passes through, unlike mushroomed bullets that are slightly rounded on the nose and tend to slip and slide through living material. The crushing action of the flat nose keeps penetration straight and thus deep. The hard cast construction will not deform on flesh and bone at these velocities so the nose profile remains constant along with bullet path and terminal damage. Full wad cutter profiles in large calibers (like .45 and .44) hit like a truck and do massive permanent damage. Noted NYPD stake out officer and gun fighter Jim Cirillo used full wad cutters in his 38 SPL revolvers because they incapacitated his targets with certainty.
Expect about 24 inches of straight-line penetration with this load.
We test our ammunition in real world over-the-counter firearms to establish our published velocities so that our customers can know what this ammunition is doing in the real world, not a laboratory where long test barrels are used and give false high velocity readings. See our below velocities fired from my personal firearms.
- 1.1057 fps – Ruger Vaquero 2006 large frame 5.5 inch barrel
- 2.1062 fps – Freedom Arms mod. 97 5.25 inch barrel
- 3. 951 fps – S&W MT. Gun 4 inch barrel
- 4. 850 fps – Taurus Titanium 2 inch barrel
This load is standard pressure and is therefore safe for use in ANY/ALL 45 Colt and 454 Casull firearms. The bullet construction is hard cast (not lead) and properly lubed and will not substantially lead your barrel, even if you fire hundreds of rounds.

Buffalo Bore Ammunition 45 GAP 230 Grain Jacketed Hollow Point Box of 20
Buffalo Bore ammunition is loaded to be some of the most powerful and highest quality ammunition available in . Buffalo Bore Premium Heavy ammunitions is considered safe to use in any 45 GAP chambered firearm that is in normal operating condition. This ammunition is new production, non-corrosive, in boxer primed, reloadable brass cases.
Owner of Buffalo Bore Tim Sundles on Buffalo Bore 45 GAP Ammunition:
These are full power, but not +P loads and are designed to be safe for use in ANY/ALL 45 GAP chambered pistols. All five of these loads utilize flash suppressed powder and will not blind the shooter in low light.
Please note the below real world velocities fired from stock over-the-counter pistols. At Buffalo Bore, we do not believe in using extra long test barrels to establish our published muzzle velocities as those long test barrels give false high velocities and we feel this is misleading to the shooter who carries the ammo and will be firing the ammo from a carry pistol, not a long test barrel.

Buffalo Bore Ammunition 45 Winchester Magnum 230 Grain Jacketed Hollow Point Box of 20
Buffalo Bore loads their ammunition up to maximum SAAMI specifications, which delivers devastating performance on a wide range of game. Please note that this ammunition is not intended for older guns. It is made for modern firearms only, as some of the ammunition could damage older and weaker firearms. This load features a JHP bullet that does considerably more terminal damage than the original round nose bullet. The expanding/mushrooming nose also ensures massive terminal damage in deer or medium hog/bear sized animals, while limiting penetration because of the expanding bullet and doing all that extra damage to living tissues. This is simply an enormous improvement over the original 45 Winchester Magnum ammunition. This ammunition is new production, non-corrosive, in boxer primed, reloadable brass cases.

Buffalo Bore Ammunition 454 Casull 300 Grain Jacketed Flat Nose Box of 20
Buffalo Bore loads their ammunition up to maximum SAAMI specifications, which delivers devastating performance on a wide range of game. Please note that this ammunition is safe to use in all 454 Casull Chambered firearms that are in proper working condition. This ammunition is new production, non-corrosive, in boxer primed, reloadable brass cases.
Owner of Buffalo Bore Tim Sundles on 454 Casull Ammunition:
The .454 Casull is one cartridge that Buffalo Bore Ammunition does not load to it’s full pressure limit. When loaded to it’s full pressure potential the .454 Casull can become unreliable and unpleasant to shoot. At upper pressure levels, heavy bullets tend to jump crimp – tying up the cylinder. (wouldn’t this be great in an emergency) Also, fired brass can stick in the chambers.
Buffalo Bore Ammunition feels that a 300 gr. bullet at 1650 fps is still very powerful, comfortable to shoot, and TOTALLY RELIABLE. At these levels, these bullets give up nothing in performance

Buffalo Bore Ammunition 460 Rowland 230 Grain Full Metal Jacket Flat Nose Box of 20
Buffalo Bore 460 Rowland ammunition is loaded with the highest quality components to produce great accuracy and performance. Buffalo Bore began to offer this load at the ever growing request of numerous customers. With performance like this it is easy to see why the 460 Rowland is quickly growing in popularity. This ammunition is new production, non-corrosive, in boxer primed, reloadable brass cases.
Owner of Buffalo Bore Tim Sundles on 460 Rowland Ammunition:
The 460 Rowland, as we load it, is squarely at mid-44 magnum power levels. This means that a person can now carry a 1911 style combat pistol that has the power of a 44 mag. revolver, but is slimmer, faster to reload, faster to shoot and holds nine rounds instead of a revolver’s six. The 460 Rowland casing is simply a 45 ACP case that has been slightly lengthened so it won’t chamber in a 45 ACP chamber. It also has a stronger web area in the casing, so as to avoid “blow outs”.
To acquire 460 Rowland test guns, I sent two of my 1911 45 acp pistols to Clark Custom Guns and had them install their 460 Rowland conversion kits. To date the converted 1911’s work great. I can fire a 255gr. hard cast bullet @ 1300 fps or a 230gr. FMJ-FN bullet @ 1350 fps. What a great “woods” pistol that still maintains combat pistol qualities.
We are using flash suppressed powders in each 460 Rowland load, so that if you have to shoot in the dark, the muzzle flash will not blind the shooter and we feel this feature is a big tactical advantage.Note my real world velocities (below) from real world pistols, not laboratory test barrels.
